Takeaways
During this project I've learned a lot. As a designer and as a active team member.
Language Barrier: The team primarily spoke Japanese (with working English knowledge), whereas I spoke primarily in English. During this project I had to convey my designs to the team in both in Japanese and English, this was truly a challenge since my vocabulary was limited.
Japanese Web design versus Western web design: In this project work, I learned that Japanese web design focuses more on information, more content and information is being presented throughout the website, This is in stark contrast where in western design focuses on more so on balance between visual and content design.
Lifelong friends: I had the pleasure of working with talented individuals who became one of my closest friends. One of my goals is to work and travel in Japan as a designer and this truly a special moment in my career.
Given the opportunity, I would like to work with future Japanese web and mobile designs. I love to learn new aspects of design that isn't so western centric. I learned a lot from this project, and I would say my communication skills have also increased.
